A Call to be Reminded: “Put on then as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved” (Vs.12a) Put On: Decisive Daily Action  A. Visceral of Virtues (Inward): “compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness,  and patience” (Vs. 12)    1. Compassionate Hearts: merciful    2. Kindness: gentleness    3. Humility: modesty    4. Meekness: power under control    5. Patience: long-suffering B. Virtues become Visible (Outward): “bearing with one another and, if one has complaint against another forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive.” (Vs. 13) Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” C. Vice of Values (Upward): “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony” (Vs. 14) 1 Corinthians 13:1: “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” II. A Choice to be Ruled: “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which you indeed were called in one body. And be thankful.” (Vs. 15) To be Ruled: Arbitrate and decide in every debate. A. Rooted in the Word: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Vs. 16a) Dwell: To inhabit, make at home, to influence. B. Renewed in Worship: “teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Vs. 16b) C. Revealed by Works: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Vs. 17) 1 Corinthians 10:31: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Takeaway: Look in the mirror and call yourself up to who Christ called you to be!
